Giveaway: Enter to #win a Jacob Bromwell Popcorn Popper

Popcorn is one of those traditional snacks that I remember my dad munching on when we were kids.  I make quite a bit of it for my own family as well and I must admit, I like to drizzle it with lots of real butter and sprinkle heavily with salt.  My favorite popcorn is not particularly lowfat but boy is it tasty!
Popcorn has come a long way throughout the years.  From a pan on a stove to the microwave…those funky foil covered pans that expanded as the popcorn popped and then the hot air popcorn popper.  There are so many ways to cook popcorn it is amazing.  When I got the chance to review the Jacob Bromwell old fashion popcorn popper I was really excited to give it a try!  This is a popcorn popper than can be used not only on the stove but also over the open fire…camping and fires in the firepit would be perfect popcorn snacking times!
If you are not familiar with Jacob Bromwell, here is some information about them from their website:
Jacob Bromwell is a specialty housewares company that manufactures authentic campfire, kitchen, and fireplace products for families of yesterday, today, and for generations to come.  [They were]  founded in 1819 on the promise to produce authentic, handcrafted housewares that deliver a unique American experience for explorers, adventurers, homemakers, and traditionalists everywhere. This mission rings true today, over 190 years later.

Jacob Bromwell offers a wonderful selection of products for the campfire, the kitchen, the fireplace and more.  Everything from that old fashion metal flour sifter my mom used to old fashion tin cups and fying pans.  If you think of products that would be used by American settlers…that is the kind of items you will find.  All of them made in the USA with lifetime warranty!
For my review, I reveived the Original Popcorn Popper.  It measures 5 x 8 x 24 9/16th inches and comes with either a detatchable or an attatched handle (I got the detatchable one for easy packing with our camping gear) You can choose from different finishes…either original tin, black, blue, or green.  I chose black thinking it would hold up to the smoke and fire the best. You can use this popcorn popper on the stovetop, in the fireplace, or over an open fire.
My opinion:  I was very impressed with the quality of this product and how easy it is to use.  Basicall, just slide open the top lid, put in about 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil, add your popcorn (about 1/4 cup or so of kernels) and slide the lid shut.  Slide on the handle and stick about 2 to 3 inches over the fire to heat up and wait for the popcorn to pop.
Now, I was a little unsure that I could actually stick it that close to the fire without absolutely burning something but once I got over that hesitation, got myself a cooking mit to keep my hand cool and stuck it right up to the fire, the popping started VERY quickly.  It took only a minute or two to pop all the kernels and I didn’t burn a single one!  Make sure you take it out of the fire as soon as the popping stops!  The popcorn was flavorful and you couldn’t tell that you had put any oil in their at all…not at all greasy! My family ate every last bit and I can’t wait to have something to cook over the fire when we camp besides marshmallows!
