Ours is just a catch and release type of lake but I like the fact that my kids are learning a life skill that may one day help them feed themselves. And by taking them out fishing I hope that they gain a greater appreciation of nature. By purchasing a fishing licence, did you know that you are helping preserve your environment? On our last fishing trip my son had an unfortunate fishing pole incident and it is no longer functional so we headed over to Bass Pro to pick up a new one. Wow, was I amazed with all the options! They also have tons of lures, accessories and how to books so if you are new to fishing you can pick up some reading material to help get you started! Fishing with family can be a wonderful way to spend the day together!

We decided that taking our Thanksgiving company fishing would be a great way to spend my son’s birthday. He loved his new fishing pole and we had high hopes for our outing. This time, the fish were too smart and other than a few nibbles, we didn’t hall in anything. However, even without catching anything, it was still a great afternoon. Next time we are going to head to the lake earlier…I think they bite better in the morning!
