Growing up, my mom was an awesome cook…we ate home cooked meals for dinner every night and there were always tasty deserts when we cleaned our plates. However, my mom used that powdered lemonaid from a can! Honestly….I had no idea how to make decent lemonaid when I got married and had to find a recipe in a cookbook! I refuse to use powdered mixes now and don’t even care for the condensed and canned versions. I find them far too sweet! When I started buying fresh lemons I discovered that there are a ton of things you can do with them besides make them into lemonaid. When I got the chance to try Meyer lemons from the Lemon Ladies Orchard I was excited to see what I could create with them! I was really impressed with how deeply yellow these lemons are. I have never had a Meyer lemon (which differs from other types of lemons you may see at the grocery store). They are slightly smaller with a thinner rind on it. Flavor wise, I think it is slightly sweeter than other lemons I have tried as well. The aroma almost reminds me of the sweetness of an orange instead of the tart lemon aroma.
