I am a snacker. There is nothing I enjoy more than sitting down to a between meal treat. Of course, I cannot sit down to a hot fudge sundae every day or I would never fit in my pants. So, I try and find ways to fulfill my craving for sweets in ways that create only a TINY bit of guilt. Sometimes it is a fruit juice Popsicle or fruit dipped in strawberry cream cheese. But, there are days that I crave something crunchy and sweet like cookies. The sampler back I received from Almondina has been doing an awesome job of feeding my sweet tooth without making me feel guilty! If you aren’t familiar with Almondina, here is some information about them from their website:
Almondina® is the inspiring success story of a man whose great loves include both music and wonderful food. For generations his family loved his grandmother Dina’s most secret cookie, which she called Petit Gateau Sec. Yuval Zaliouk, an internationally known symphony conductor and gourmet chef, always had a special place in his heart (and stomach) for this exquisite, crispy wafer with the delicate flavor of roasted almonds and the natural sweetness of plump raisins.
So, what is Almondina? Almondina is an all-natural, crispy almond cookie that has no cholesterol and no added fat, salt, or preservatives. it is very thin and very crunchy but not so hard you need to dip it in something to make it soft. You CAN dip it, but you can also spread it with cream cheese as an appetizer or serve it with ice cream. It comes in many different flavors including The Original, Choconut, Cinnaroma, Gingerspice, AlmonDuo, Sesame Pumpkin, Spice, Chocolate Cherry, Chocolate Dipped, Yogurt Dipped and Milk Chocolate.
So, for my review I was sent a selection of different flavors from Almondina to try out. These packages are all approximately 4 ounces which is 16 cookies. One serving size is considered 4 cookies. They are very thing and crunchy but I didn’t have trouble eating them straight out of the package without dipping.
Almondina Cookies
My opinion: I am really impressed with all of the flavors of Almondina. I think the addition of raisins to these almond cookies really makes them taste great. They are not overly sweet but have enough sugar to remind you that this is a great, not just a plain biscuit or cracker. I liked all the different varieties but I must say I think the Cinnaroma was one of my favorites. I think the combination of Cinnamon and Raisins with the nuttiness of the almonds was a perfect blend of flavors. I thought the chocolate ones had a wonderful cocoa flavor to them and they were perfect for dipping in milk. I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy the sesame one but was pleasantly surprised! It has a very bold sesame flavor but still just a touch of sweetness.
I must say I really enjoyed the Almondina I was sent and am particularly impressed with the ingredient list on these little almond cookies. Very simple ingredients like real sugar, egg whites, almonds, flour…nothing artificial or highly processed!
If you are looking for a simple snack that will satisfy your sweet tooth without causing a whole ton of diet guilt, I think you will enjoy these cookies!
