Wholly Guacamole cooler packed with goodies up for grabs! #Bpop

Wholly Guacamole cooler packed with goodies up for grabs! #Bpop

Growing up I was never exposed to ‘exotic’ foods.  We ate traditional American foods common to New England.  There was pot roast, baked beans and apple pie.  There was NOT salsa, guacamole or anything else remotely spicy and flavorful.  After college, I headed down to Texas for 7 years with the now husband and my taste buds were awakened to the joys of Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine.  I learned to enjoy foods that were filled with flavor and packed a little bit of a punch to them!  Lately, salsa flavors have exploded and there are tons of new varieties out there.  I recently received a cooler full of the new Wholly Guacamole salsas as well as some of their famous guacamole to try.  I have worked with Wholly Guacamole in the past and have always been impressed with the freshness and flavor of their products.  Here is a little bit about the company if you haven’t had the chance to try them yet:

Every package of guacamole and salsa we produce is made with the same attention to quality and safety that was important to us 25 years ago. We always use real Hass avocados and natural ingredients that never include preservatives, artificial flavoring or fillers.

Wholly Guacamole uses a system of preservation that involves high-pressure water rather than heat or chemicals. It is all about using cold-water pressure instead of heat to preserve their product. The cold water is a low-energy process and it is recyclable so it’s more efficient than heat preservation. None of their products contain any of the “Big 8 Allergens” which are milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soybeans. They are also gluten free and Kosher.

Wholly Guacamole Salsa

For my review, I received a wonderful selection of salsas and guacamole, including their newest salsa flavors.  The salsas I got to try were: Classic Hot, Pineapple, Red Pepper Mango, Roasted Tomato, Avocado Verde, Guacamole and Spicy Pico, Classic Mild, Classic medium.

Let me just say that there are a TON of ways to use salsa besides just scooping it up with a chip!  I decided to try incorporating it into a couple of my recipes and not just inhale it all with Tostitos (although that is certainly a good way to enjoy it, too!)!  So, what did I do with all this salsa?  Here are a couple of ideas:

As a topping for hamburgers:

Mix a few spoonfuls in with a low calorie mayonnaise for a great hamburger topping

My opinion:  Honestly, we love Wholly Guacamole’s salsa and my husband insists it be the only one we buy.  He USED to be a fan of the classic glass jar brand that shall remain nameless until the first time I worked with Wholly Guacamole!  Then, we got to taste how FRESH salsa can really taste and we have never gone back since!  The flavor of these salsas is amazing…you can really taste the tomato and onion with the spice of the pepper.  His favorite will always be the class hot…tons of tomato flavor and HEAT.  My son heads for the classic medium and I feel great knowing he is getting a serving of veggies and he doesn’t even realize it! My favorite? I really loved the Pineapple!  It was a unique change of pace from the classic varieties and was a great topping for grilled chicken.  You will have your own favorites, of course, but there were non that I disliked.  Whether you are using the salsa as a topping, dip, or recipe ingredient I really think these new flavors will give you a whole new range of flavors to choose from.

And don’t forget, Wholly Guacamole makes….Guacamole, too! I absolutely love guacamole and whether you prefer the smooth or chunky styles, Wholly Guacamole’s are delicious.  Fresh tasting and creamy, I usually scoop it up with chips but it also goes great on hotdogs and hamburgers or as a layered taco dip or sandwich topping.  Avocados are actually pretty good for you because the fat they contain is considered the ‘good’ fat.  So, you can feel good about your snacking!
