The Benefits of Olive Oil and a Devo Olive Oil #Giveaway

Many years ago, when I was a kid in the burbs of Connecticut my mom cooked our meals in good old fashion bacon grease. Or lard or whatever other pan drippings she had saved in the fridge. Yep, stuff tasted good but I shudder to think of the fat deposits on my arteries from years of eating like that! Nowadays, I primarily cook with olive oil because I have learned a lot about the health benefits of olive oil. I will cook a few things in butter still but I have really come to like the flavor of olive oil in my dishes. I recently received some Devo olive oil to try out and I am amazed at all the flavors they have to choose from. If you aren’t familiar with Devo olive oil, here is some information about them from their website:

Devo Olive Oil has a great selection of products that would really appeal to both novice cooks and seasoned chefs. They have plain olive oil as well as some delicious flavored olive oil as well. Since there are so many benefits of olive oil, it is good to find creative ways to use it. Including a lemon olive oil in your homemade salad dressing or adding a balsamic olive oil to a chicken marinade are great ways to start incorporating olive oil into your diet. For my review, I received the Devo Olive Oil small sampler pack. The small sample pack contains 9 of their most popular flavors in 2oz bottles (1/4 cup) which is just enough for a couple of salads, sautees, or a marinade. The Flavors include: Tuscan Herb EVOO, Roasted Garlic EVOO, Chipotle EVOO, Blood Orange EVOO, 18 year Traditional Balsamic, Strawberry Balsamic, Black Cherry Balsamic, Peach White Balsamic, and Honey Ginger White Balsamic.

Devo Olive Oil Sampler Pack

So, over the past few weeks I have been using this wonderful assortment of olive oils in assorted dishes. So far, everything I have tried has been absolutely wonderful. The Tuscan Herb EVOO was perfect as a dipping sauce for some good French banquette. The flavor of the herbs was strong enough to really taste without overshadowing the underlying taste of the olive oil itself. The  Roasted Garlic EVOO is absolutely heavenly and was perfect in a stirfry I made for dinner. It is nice to have a garlic oil in the pantry for times when you run out of actual garlic which seems to happen an awful lot in my house. The Strawberry Balsamic was perfect on a dinner salad, the light fruitiness adding a unique touch. I can’t wait to try the other flavors in my sample pack and these small sizes are a great way to get the benefits of olive oil without investing a ton of money in a flavor you aren’t sure you will like. If you want to make the switch to olive oil and get healthier in the new year I highly recommend you try this sample pack out!
