Growing up in New England, I am familiar with cold winters. Snow so deep it went down the tops of your furry boots and air so cold it froze the inside of your nose! That is perfectly fine for OUTSIDE. I love cold weather and it is one of the things I miss most now that I live in Georgia. However, I do not want the inside of my HOME to be cold! My husband and I are constantly battling with each other over the thermostat and I usually end up wearing 3 layers in order to stay warm.
Some methods of heating your home are more energy efficiant and better for the environment than others. One option that has a smaller carbon footprint than many on the market today is the pellet stove. Pellet stoves are a popular heating alternative because they cost 44% less than oil, 47% less than electric, and 53% less than propane heat when used to heat your home. Pellet stoves heat your home with the use of biomass fuels that are composed of renewable, carbon-neutral products. Check out the infographic below to fully understant what a pellet stove is and why it is a more eco-friendly choice for heating your home.
QuadraFire Pellet Stoves can really help you cut down on the cost and environmental impact of heating your home. Quadra-Fire was founded in 1985, after nearly two years of research and development. The patented Quadra-Burn system is an eco-friendly replacement for traditional wood-burning stoves. By burning and re-burning gases and smoke in four different zones of the stove they are a very clean burning, energy efficient alternative for home heating. Quadra-Fire stoves and inserts, whether they run on wood, corn, gas, or pellets, are designed with efficiency and beauty as top priorities.
One big perk to pellet stoves is that there is a federal tax credit available which provides a 10 percent tax credit of up to $300 on a qualifying biomass heating appliance purchased between Jan. 1, 2012 and De. 31, 2013!

I like the idea that there is a tax credit also. But it does sound like a great option to keeping warm in the winter.
Pellet stoves are new to me. What a cool idea!
Pellet stoves are great. Before we moved into our current home that now has fireplace, we had installed a pellet stove in our last home. It used to heat up the whole house, we never had a need to use the electric floor heating. The only problem we had was that the pellets were sometimes hard to find in our area when winter was harsh. If we ever decide to convert our fireplace we would definitely go with a pellet stove.
