Valentines Day Desserts: Raspberry Creamcheese Brownies

Valentines Day Desserts: Raspberry Creamcheese Brownies

As a blogger, I spend a lot of time on the internet.  Right now, Valentines Day desserts seem to be a hot topic with just about everyone.  As I scroll through images of tasty dessert creations, they almost all have one thing in common.  They are pink.  Or they have pink sprinkles or pink frosting or some other sort of pink decoration on top of them.  I have nothing against the color pink....unless it comes from a tube of red dye #40.  Then, I am not so thrilled with it.  My kids get enough artificial food coloring at school and at their friend's houses.  I decided I needed to find Valentines Day desserts that were naturally pink to serve to my family and came across a lovely brownie recipe from Let's Dish Recipes.  Hers uses a butter cream filling but I decided to try a cream cheese … [Read more...]

Valentines Day Gifts from a*pour toi

Valentines Day Gifts from a*pour toi

My husband and I have been married for 16 years.  At this point, he knows the type of Valentines Day gifts I like to receive.  I do not want black lace, expensive diamonds or exotic weekends at spas.  What I do like for Valentines Day gifts are things that I can EAT.  Gourmet foods, especially sweets, are one of my biggest weaknesses.  Not great for my waste line but some days, fancy sweets are vital to my sanity.  I recently received a wonderful box of gourmet food gifts from a*pour toi and if you are looking for unique Valentines Day gifts, I really recommend you check them out. Founded on the principle of giving with care, elegance and joy, a*pour toi literally means a*[present] for you.  It was founded by Julie Hasson, a sophisticated Parisienne who has lived in many parts of … [Read more...]

Valentines Day Recipe: Strawberry Mousse

Valentines Day Recipe: Strawberry Mousse

With Valentines day fast approaching I have started trying out some new recipes much to my family's delight!  I love mousse but a lot of the recipes I find for it contain all sorts of artificial stuff that I don't like to buy.  I found a this Strawberry Mousse recipe on Food.com and was impressed with how simple the ingredients were.  Putting the mousse and fruit in a decorative glass like a wine glass or margarita glass makes this Valentines Day recipe not only tasty but pretty as well!  You could also make this mousse with raspberries if you prefer.  I bet using blackberries would work, too, but then you would be left with a purple mousse instead of pink but probably equally tasty.
