Eco Friendly Drawer Organizing Ideas

I am probably not the only person in the world who has what I lovingly call 'the junk drawer'. It is filled with everything from elastic bands and loose paper clips to nail files and electrical outlet covers. My children are teenagers and I still have those plastic covers that go over electrical sockets. Yeah, I would say it is way past time to clean out the junk drawer, right? I am always scouring the web for creative organizing ideas and I came across I Heart Organizing. What an awesome source of information and ideas! Surely she had some way … [Read more...]

Easy Mason Jar Craft: Powdered Sugar Dispenser

I tried my hand at canning blueberries a couple months back and while it was fun and relatively easy to do I am not sure I will be doing it again any time soon. Without an inexpensive source of fruit it is rather pricy to do it yourself. My backyard garden rarely produces enough of anything to have extra for canning and there are not a lot of pick your own produce places in metro Atlanta. I now have tons of mason jars and have started looking around at mason jar crafts to see what I can do with them.I love dusting the things I bake with … [Read more...]

Need Altoids Tin Projects? Make a Tic-tac-toe Travel Game!

I always seem to have a tin of mints in my purse and my all time favorite brand is Altoids. This means that I have accumulated a large number of Altoid tins over the past few years. There are a lot of creative ways to re-purpose Altoids tins like I did in my homemade lip balm post. I have been looking for other Altoids tin projects and I came up with a simple Tic-tac-toe travel game that takes only a few minutes to make. I am including a photo … [Read more...]

Attract Birds to your Yard with Popcorn Balls!

This post about how to attract birds to your yard was inspired by a product I received for review but all opinions expressed are my own.Birds are one of a gardener's best friends. They are great at eating all those little pests that take over our garden plants every year. Caterpillars, beetles and all sorts of creepy crawlies do their best to leave us with fruits and veggies that are full of holes and very unappetizing. In order to attract birds to your yard, you want to create an environment that they feel safe in and that has everything … [Read more...]

Easy DIY Wooden Bird Feeder

This post has been sponsored by SC Johnson but all opinions expressed are my own.My children’s favorite treats during the summer are ice and yogurt pops. As a result, we end up with an awful lot of wooden sticks by the time September rolls around. One project that caught my eye this month was this easy, DIY wooden bird feeder. Bird watching is a favorite hobby at my house and a great learning experience for kids to help … [Read more...]

Easy DIY beauty products: Grapefruit Vanilla Sugar Scrub

I have always enjoyed cooking...mixing flavors and foods to create a meal that (hopefully!) my family will love. I have recently discovered that I also enjoy mixing foods and aromas to create DIY beauty products to pamper myself with! I love scrubs, lotions, facials and pedicures as much as the next girl but I am too cheap to pay for them on a regular basis. Not to mention that all natural beauty products cost an awful lot more than even regular creams and scrubs. So, I have decided to start expanding my kitchen skills into DIY beauty products … [Read more...]

Earth Day Craft Idea: Make a Tin Can Bird Feeder!

Earth Day is fast approaching and I am a huge fan of getting kids involved in our efforts to go green. This Earth Day craft idea is a great way to get kids involved in repurposing a tin can while also providing food for the birds in your yard. You can try hanging the bird feeder from a suction cup on the outside of the window so that you can get an up close and personal … [Read more...]
