Diane has a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology with a Minor in Health Management and Policy. She spent many years working in cancer research, academics, and biotechnology. Concern over the growing incidence of human disease and the birth of her children led her to begin living a more natural life. She quickly realized that the information she was learning along the way could be beneficial to many others and started blogging as a way to share this knowledge with others. While passionate about health and the environment she can’t quite give up her favorite Cheetos and Diet Coke! Learn more about her HERE.
So, the holidays are fast approaching and along with them comes the cookies, candies, eggnog, company parties and all those other sweet and tasty events that conspire to add inches to our hips and make our diet goals just fly out the window! There is no magic pill when it comes to keeping weight off…it is a numerical formula…how many calories come IN and how many calories get burned OFF. Since I have no willpower when it comes to sweets, my caloric intake is going to go UP in the next few months. The only way I am going to continue to fit into my pants is if I increase the amount of exercise I get and here is where YOU ALL are going to help!
Every Friday from now on is going to be Fitness Friday! Topics covered in these blog posts might be reviews of exercise products, quick facts about fitness and health, a vent about how hard it is to get exercise when all my kids do is moan and groan when I ask them to come for a walk with me! The one thing I will try and focus on every Friday is fitness, in all it’s different ways, shapes, and forms.
I have some great product reviews coming up in the next few weeks for those of you who would like to learn more about ways to get fit. I have teamed up with a company called Fitbit that makes a handy little high tech gadget that helps motivate you to get moving a little bit more every day. Think really high tech pedometer that can also help you monitor sleep patterns and provide a supportive online community to lean on and a ton of other features.
There will be other product reviews, lifestyle suggestions, fitness facts, and whatever else I happen to be inspired to write about. Why? Because I want to be held accountable for getting myself in better shape. I have always preferred a good book and my recliner than my running shoes and a steep hill and since my mother has battled her weight for her entire life…I know that needs to change!
I am not going to be running marathons any time soon (although my husband is…GRRR…him and his motivated self!) but I WILL be getting fit…one step at a time!
I would love for you to join me in my quest for fitness!
