My kids are just like everyone else’s and just because I try to stuff them full of veggies and organic milk doesn’t mean they don’t crave candy once in a while! My concern has always been about the artificial sweeteners and chemical dyes that traditional candy contains. A couple weeks ago I was sent a sample pack of Surf Sweet Candies to review and I think I have found a great company! I can cater to my kid’s sweet tooth once in a while and not worry about all the harmful additives that they are eating!
Surf Sweets Organic and Natural Candy
Surf Sweets candy is made with organic fruit juice and sweeteners, contains natural colors and flavors, and is free of corn syrup and GMOs. They contain 100% of the US RDA of Vitamin C and are gluten free, casein free, and made in a nut free facility right here in the good old USA. Great choice for people who have food allergies or are trying to eat a more natural diet. They even offer a few vegan and vegetarian options as well.
From the company’s web site:
Why should I be concerned about artificial colors?
A recent study completed by the British medical journal The Lancet, showed that artificial colors and preservatives increased hyperactivity and decreased attention span in a wide range of children with and without learning disabilities. A number of food and candy manufacturers in Europe are now removing artificial colors, flavors and preservatives from their products. In addition, the American Academy of Pediatrics recently issued a position paper which suggested removing artificial colors and preservatives from the diets of children experiencing ADHD behaviors. Artificial colors are primarily coal-tar derivatives made from chemical compounds which are made when coal is distilled.
My Surf Sweets Organic and Natural Candy Review:
My kids were eager to help me review this product! They couldn’t wait to try out the samples we received. We tried the sour gummy worms first. They had a very tender texture. Not so rubbery you couldn’t chew them like some gummy products we have had. My son didn’t think they were quite sour enough. But honestly, he likes to grimace when he eats sour things. He sucks on lemons when we go out to eat!
The sour berry bears had a similar texture and flavor, just a different shape. We were equally enthusiastic about the gummy bears which had a firmer texture. They were more like traditional gummy products we have eaten. The jelly beans had a nice natural flavor to them. The flavor not as strong and overpowering as some I have tasted.

Overall, these were a great treat and something I would definitely consider purchasing more of! My kids also like Raisels if you are looking for more natural candy ideas for your kids.
