Wildgrain is a subscription box service that delivers fresh/frozen, all-natural, and artisanal sourdough bread, fresh pasta, and scrumptious pastries right to your door. Their products are made with simple, all-natural ingredients and no additives or preservatives. Keep reading for more information and the latest deals on this subscription box service.

What’s in a Wildgrain Box?

If you choose the Mixed Wildgrain Box, you will receive an assortment of sourdough breads, hand cut frozen pasta, and artisan pastries. They are all ready to bake from frozen with no prep required on your part.

Unlike other baking subscription boxes, you don’t get to choose what is in your bread box. The monthly box will vary, depending on the month, with some items being seasonal.

You might get loaves of plain sourdough or sourdough rye. One month you might get Raspberry lemon biscuits and the next a package of Chocolate croissants. Every month is a new flavor adventure!

Sourdough Bread

Fresh bread is delicious but time-consuming to make. In fact, making homemade bread is something I am really NOT very good at. Trust me, I have tried!

Slow fermented sourdough bread is the main focus of Wildgrain. Each box will include 3 loaves of sourdough bread. Flavors and variety will vary each month.

Breads are delivered frozen and can be stored in the freezer. When you are ready to eat a loaf, simply bake it according to the directions on each loaf. They will all take less than 25 minutes to cook.

My box included sourdough rosemary garlic bread, a plain sourdough bread, and a slow fermented 3 seed bread. Just enough freshly baked bread to keep me happy for the next few weeks.

Artisanal Pastries

In addition to the bread, you will also receive 2-4 pastries each month.

These pastries are also made with all-natural ingredients and do not contain any preservatives or artificial flavors.

I received a 4 pack of croissants which are one of their most popular items.

Hand Cut Pasta

Fresh pasta is not something I want to make myself so I’m glad it’s included in the Wildgrain Box.

The hand-cut pasta is also made with all-natural clean ingredients and is GMO-free.

I received a package of fettuccine noodles as well as a package of Tonnarelli. Other options on their menu of flash frozen fresh pastas are hand cut pappardelle and hand cut linguine.

To cook the pasta, just add them to boiling water for the length of time listed on the package. Easy to make for a busy weeknight meal.

My Wildgrain Baking Box Subscription Review

I was really excited to try out the Wildgrain subscription box because I love fresh, all-natural breads. When the box arrived, I was impressed with the variety of breads that were included.

Baking from frozen made these artisanal breads, pastries and pasta incredibly easy to make. Honestly, the hardest part is letting the bread cool before diving into it.

The blueberry biscuits were absolutely delicious. The house smelled heavenly while they baked and they were moist and tender. Not overly sweet, they were perfect spread with butter while still just a tad bit warm.

The sourdough breads are crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Perfect to pair with soup or chili and they make a delicious toast. I wouldn’t recommend them as sandwich bread because they are a bit difficult to cut thin enough for that.

So, a quick summary

What I liked:

  • Great variety of products
  • Excellent quality
  • Love the simple, clean ingredient list
  • Easy to order, skip when needed and adjust the delivery schedule.
  • Box and insulation are eco-friendly and can be recycled.
  • Buying Wildgrain boxes give back! For each box sold, they make a donation to the Greater Boston Food Bank.

What I didn’t love:

  • I had one croissant arrive broken. Still delicious but not as pretty. They might need additional packaging protection.
  • I would probably prefer to choose my own selection of products, or to at least be able to choose a few of my favorites rather than have all items be a surprise.

Is a Wildgrain Box worth it?

If you are looking for an easy way to get fresh, delicious bread, pasta, and pastries without any preservatives or artificial ingredients, then Wildgrain is definitely worth it. Personally, I would have sliced bread with every meal. Bread lovers like me are the perfect Wildgrain customer!

You can’t beat the convenience of having sourdough loaves, fresh pasta, and baked goods arrive frozen at your door. Simply pop it in the oven and you have a fresh meal, bread, or dessert in minutes. If you love bread, Wildgrain offers a fabulous service.

The only drawback is that you don’t get to choose what is in your box. If you are someone who likes to know exactly what you are getting, then this might not be the subscription box for you.

Overall, I was very pleased with my Wildgrain Bread Box and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an easy, convenient way to get fresh bread.
