So, what are these two simple steps I speak of? Step one is to dump the few ingredients (minus the coconut oil) into a high-powered food processor. I used my Cuisinart Food Processor which is totally amazing when it comes to pureeing things til they are completely smooth. I wouldn’t try this with a cheap food processor because it will still be a bit gritty from the nuts. Here are the healthy Nutella ingredients you will need:
- Toasted hazelnuts, skins removed
- Coconut oil, warmed to liquid form
- Powdered sugar
- Unsweetened cocoa powder
- Vanilla extract
- Salt
After you dump the ingredients in and process til everything is ground up, start drizzling in the oil. Puree til it is the desired consistency. That’s it. You have officially learned how to make your own Nutella. Totally easy, right?
What can you make from Nutella?
So, now that you know how to make your own Nutella, what do you do with it? I have seen people put a spoonful in their morning coffee, you can make Nutella brownies or just slather it on a piece of bread and call it lunch. Okay, maybe add an apple to your plate to reduce the guilt load just a tad bit!
I found a ton of homemade Nutella recipes, but I really liked this one because it uses coconut oil. I like to think the coconut oil makes it a little bit healthier. Yes, this is totally a healthy recipe! If you decide to make your own Nutella please let me know how it turns out!

I always tease my daughter that I should buy stock in Nutella to keep up with her consumption habits. This recipe looks easy enough and the teens could easily whip this up too. We don’t normally use coconut oil, do you have any other oil suggestions?
