I am a big fan of essential oils and have been using them for years in my bath or as a natural way to make my home smell pretty. I have never tried adding them to food until I received a sample of Wild Orange essential oil from doTerra to try. (keep in mind that not ALL essential oils are edible so do your research before using them in your recipes!)
All of doTerra’s essential oils are 100% pure aromatic extracts and contain no artificial ingredients. They are tested to be free of contaminants such as pesticides or other chemical residues. I was sent the Wild Orange Essential Oil and decided to try the Wild Orange Vinaigrette recipe that came in the magazine they sent along with my package. Here is the recipe (i made only a 1/2 batch and my modifications are included in parentheses)
Since I have a TON of lettuce in the garden right now I just picked an assortment of greens and a few pansies for color and then drizzled the vinaigrette over the top. It had a wonderful flavor…full of orange with a tart/sweet flavor from the combination of vinegar and sugar. I really enjoyed it.
Right now, doTerra is having a contest you might be interested in. Check out the Slim & Sassy Contest Rules and Registration for more information about how you can participate.

I love salads with homemade dressing. Honestly, I had never thought to use essential oils. I didn’t know any of them were edible. Learn something new every day. 🙂 Now I will have to try this!
