At my daughter’s doctor appointment last week, the pediatrician discussed with her making sure she gets enough fiber. He said that most people (kids and adults) do not get anywhere near the amount of fiber they are supposed to in their diet. Beanfield Chips are a unique type of chip that is made with beans and rice and provide 4 grams of fiber in every 1 ounce serving. If you have never heard of Beanfield Chips, here is some information about them you should know:
- Complete Protein: 4 grams in every serving, as much as a 4 oz. glass of milk.
- Fiber: 4 grams in every serving, the same as a ½ cup serving of raisin bran. And you get both soluble and insoluble fiber, which aids digestion. The fiber also helps you feel fuller longer.
- Beanfields is free of every one of the FDA’s eight most common ingredients that trigger food allergies.
- Complex Carbohydrates provide long lasting energy.
- Minerals our bodies need, including potassium and magnesium.
- Half the saturated fat and one third less sodium than most corn tortilla chips.
They are corn and gluten free and made with non GMO ingredients. These chips are made in the USA from crops grown here in the United States. They come in 4 varieties…Naturally Unsalted, Sea Salt, Sea Salt and Pepper, and Pico De Gallo.
For my review, I was sent a bag of the Sea Salt and Pepper and the Pico De Gallo flavors. They are all cholesterol-free, trans fat-free, and preservative-free. They are made from a combination of black beans, navy beans and long grain rice.
My opinion: Doesn’t matter how healthy a chip is if it doesn’t taste good, right? I was a little unsure how a rice and bean based snack would go over with my family…theses are the same people who complain mightily when I put beans in their tacos!
I was amazed that everyone loved them! Yes, even the kids! They have a really amazing crispy crunch to them and you can see and taste the black pepper in the chip. They are not greasy at all. The Pico De Gallo has a wonderful flavor. I thought that the tomato was the predominant flavor, however my son thought it was more the garlic/onion flavor. My husband swears it tastes just like chili powder, with a hint of smokiness to it.
Overall, very happy with both of the flavors of chips I tried and I love that they provide a complete protein! Lots of protein and fiber from the beans and rice disguised as a tasty chip!
