If you are a cookbook addict like I am, your shelves are probably overflowing with culinary inspiration. However, a good cookbook doesn’t have to teach you how to make exotic French cuisine or a fancy 12 course meal. A good cookbook can teach you how to make something ordinary into something extraordinary and that is exactly what 150 Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches does! Who knew there were so many ways to make a grilled cheese sandwich? Read on for my review of this cookbook and your chance to win a copy of your own!

From the Publisher:
The classic grilled cheese sandwich is now one of the biggest trends in cooking and enjoying an incredible resurgence in popularity. Top bloggers, NPR, and ABC are reporting that grilled cheese sandwiches are one of the top food trends to watch out for — many have even said “grilled cheese is the new burger.”
These recipes are fabulous: they begin with the comfort food feel of the grilled cheese which we all love and then make them incredibly versatile — they’re uptown, downtown, simple, gourmet, seasonal. And the recipes aren’t limited to just lunch or dinner. There are recipes for snacks, appetizers and even desserts. Perfect for the home cook who wants tasty, healthy, economical meals featuring fresh ingredients.

My Review:
I grew up on white bread and Velveeta and while my tastes have grown up a little bit I still don’t venture far from cheddar on sourdough most times I make a grilled cheese. I was amazed at the variety of cheeses, breads and assorted fillings that were included in this cookbook. I had an incredibly hard time narrowing down my recipe selection for which one to try first! You can see the Turkey and Brie with Apricot recipe that I posted the other day to see the sort of delicious creations that are included. The next one I am going to try is a Gorgonzola with pecans and honey, I honestly got so hungry just READING this cookbook!
The setup of the book is done very well. There is a short introduction that includes information about types of breads, cheeses, shortcuts and cooking tips. The recipes are sorted into a variety of categories that range from Breakfast and Brunch to the types of ingredient like beef or pork. If you are looking for a specific ingredient, the index is very detailed. Have basil? Look up a recipe. Want to use up your brie? Look it up in the index. It is a very easy to navigate cookbook. There is also a short section on condiments that you can make to serve with you sandwich.
I love that the author included a few photographs as well. They are not on every page but they are very large, mouth watering and attractive. They just add to the incredible sense of hunger this cookbook gave my just by reading it!
If you want to start thinking outside the box when it comes to grilled cheese I think this is a cookbook you should definitely check out!
