When I was younger, I never really gave much though to my health. I ate whatever I wanted to without gaining weight, I had plenty of time to exercise, and I was full of energy since there were no kids for me to chase around. Now that I am getting older I have to pay a lot more attention to how I live my life. Okay, 40 isn’t OLD but I am not thrilled with that number, either! I am trying to make smarter choices when it comes to the food I eat and striving to get more exercise into my daily routine. Some days the best I can do is to eat an organic granola bar and park in the farthest spot away from the grocery store. Every little bit helps, right? I was recently given the opportunity (along with 9 other bloggers) to visit with a number of Nature Made representatives and to tour the Nature Made vitamins production facility. Over the next few months I will be sharing some information with you about how Nature Made vitamins can become an important part of your own healthy living program.
Nature Made Vitamin Ambassador!
My Nature Made Vitamin tour took me to Los Angeles, CA for the first time in my life. The weather was sunny and in the 70’s, the people on the journey with me were friendly, and the traffic was a nightmare. Our first day was filled with question and answer sessions from several important members of the Nature Made company. The topic of discussion during our trip was the new Nature Made VitaMelts vitamins. If you have never heard of VitaMelts that is probably because they are a brand new product that has just been offered to the public in the last few months. They are beginning to make their way to several retail locations as well as Amazon and I really encourage you to check them out. This is a line of melt in your mouth vitamins that contain no artificial colors or flavors and come in a convenient pop top case for on the go dosing. While I have seen chewables, gummies, liquids and pills, this is the first melt in your mouth vitamin that I have ever seen!

Nature Made VitaMelts
During the first part of our day, the Nature Made representatives gave us a ton of great information about vitamins, our health and the Nature Made company itself. Nature Made stresses both nature and science when it comes to their vitamins If something cannot be scientifically proven, Nature Made does not stand behind it. I am encouraged to hear this because there are so many health claims being thrown around nowadays that you never really know what to believe. There is always that ‘fad’ ingredient that people latch onto as a miracle cure for whatever ails them and that isn’t a smart decision when it comes to your health. With Nature Made, I feel comfortable knowing that their products have research to back up their claims. In fact, we got to tour the research labs to see some of the vitamin science first hand. As a science geek who majored in Microbiology and who is currently working as a pharmacy technician this was the absolute highlight of my trip! What do you think of our oh so attractive outfits that we had to wear in the facility? No laughing allowed! NOBODY looks good in a hair net!
Along with my confidence in the Nature Made name, I also gained a few other insights into the world of vitamins. I truly never stopped to think about the process vitamins go through from creation to arriving in my local store. I got to spend several hours touring the Nature Made packaging facility and I am in awe of both the machinery that is used and how precise the process actually is. To see huge pallets of vitamins (millions??) dispensed into small bottles in such an accurate way was really amazing. Nature Made has equipment that analyzes every step of the process to ensure that the final product ends up exactly how it should… the right bottle size, the correct number of pills, a perfect safety seal and plastic wrapping for your safety. I will never look at another bottle of vitamins the same again!
So, now that I have a better understanding of Nature Made, their products, and my own personal health needs I am happy to say that I am now a Nature Made Ambassador and am happy to share my journey to better nutrition with you over the next few months. I hope you will join me in my journey to improve my health and make your own Healthy Pledge for 2013!
My Personal Healthy Pledge for 2013:
I will make time for healthy eating, even if it means getting out of bed 10 minutes early so I can cut up fresh fruit to put on cold cereal. I will add more colorful foods into my diet, along with more whole grains no matter how much my children complain. I will try hard to make time for exercise even if all I can manage to do is take the dog for a walk. I will turn off my light at night a few minutes earlier, regardless of how good a book I am reading. And most importantly, I will take my vitamins because no matter how hard I try, there will always be gaps in my nutrition, even with my best attempts at healthy living.
If you would like to join me on my pledge of healthy living in 2013 I would love to hear what sort of suggestions you have! Over the next few months I will share my own successes (AND failures) and would love to have support from my readers along the way. If you would like to try out the new VitaMelts line they come in 6 different varieties right now, although research is ongoing to try to bring more vitamins into this type of delivery system. The current options are:
Relax contains L-theanine and comes in a Green Tea/Mint flavor
Vitamin D is for bone health and comes in a creamy vanilla
Vitamin C helps maintain a healthy immune system and tastes like juicy orange
Energy is a Vitamin B-12 and tastes like mixed berry
Zinc helps maintain a healthy immune system and comes in a honey lemon flavor
Sleep is made up of melatonin and comes in a chocolate mint flavor
