My kids are practically inhaling candy this week since the Easter Bunny was very generous…and that is okay with me for this week. Everyone needs a little treat now and then, right? However, after this weekend the candy goes in the pantry to be doled out only on special occasions. Of course, that doesn’t mean the kids stop ASKING for sweets so I am happy to have received some Raisels to review! These are a great candy alternative and also a wonderful addition to your favorite trail mix recipe.

Raisels are a great candy alternative
These are the Best Natural Fruit Snacks!
What I like most about these natural fruit snacks is that it satisfies my kid’s desire for chewy, sweet/sour snacks while at the same time avoiding certain things like artificial colors, flavors, high fructose corn syrup, etc. Yes, these snacks do have sugar…raisins themselves are high in sugar and there is a light dusting on the outside along with the citric acid for that sour/sweet kick. However, 90% of the sugar in this candy alternative is naturally occurring. There is 5X more added sugar in a serving of sweetened dried cranberries than Raisels. There are also 19X more added sugar in a bag of Skittles original flavor candies and 17X more added sugar in a 12 ounce can of coca cola. This is definitely a healthier alternative than candy!
How do Raisels taste?
Okay, I am not usually a fan of sour candies but these are pretty good! Not quite as sour as some of the candies my kids have brought home but enough to get your mouth puckered up! They are nice and soft and chewy. My kids absolutely love them and don’t seem to have a favorite in terms of flavor…the happily inhaled each and every one. My son was thrilled to see that they are GOLDEN raisins which he thinks are better than the traditional purple/black variety for some reason. Overall, a great addition to the lunchbox!
Where can you buy Raisels?
I am sad to see that Raisels are not available on Amazon, however, you can head over to the Raisels web site and buy them there. If you want to buy similar products on Amazon, you can find them in the links below.

I really like your blog. My son is a candy addict, so I’m always trying to find healthier options to satisfy his sweet tooth. Especially since several of his teeth are already in bad shape due to a daredevil boy injury. I’ll have to see if he likes Raisels… I’d never heard of them before. And while I’m thinking about it, I found some really helpful tips & info on this Mom’s Guide to little teeth, if you are interested. (Copy and paste: http://www.1dental.com/moms-guide/)
