Mashed Potatoes and Family Dinner Go Hand in Hand
One of the things I am most passionate about is family dinner. It’s a time for my whole family to come together to eat a healthy meal and reconnect after a busy day. Studies have shown that there are significant benefits to eating dinner as a family on a regular basis. But, life is busy, right?
How do you make time for family dinner when you get home from work late and are just too tired to cook? The solution to your problem lays in your slow cooker! There are so many easy meals and side dishes that can be made in a slow cooker.
While you sit at your desk at work, your slow cooker can get started making this golden crock pot mashed potatoes recipe! And because Tasteful Selections potatoes are small with no need to peel, there is almost NO prep work to get this recipe started!
How to make homemade mashed potatoes when you are short on time
Tasteful Selections potatoes come in several varieties, all prewashed and ready to cook with no need to peel. They are small and uniform in size so they cook evenly in a very short amount of time.
Toss them into the slow cooker on low before you leave for work and by the time you get home, they are soft and ready for mashing. I used the Honey Gold potatoes for this crock pot mashed potatoes recipe but they also come in Purple Passion, Sunrise Medley and many others.
You can find them in your local Walmart or use the store locator to find a location near you.

A portion of each sale of Tasteful Selections potatoes helps support Katie’s Krops. Katie’s Krops is a non-profit organization that empowers youth across the country to grow a healthy end to hunger in their communities, one vegetable garden at a time.
The mission of Katie’s Krops is to start and maintain vegetable gardens of all sizes and donate the harvest to help feed people in need, as well as to assist and inspire others to do the same.
Once a year, Katie’s Krops hosts an annual grant cycle where youths, ages 9 to 16, apply to receive funding to start a Katie’s Krops vegetable garden in their community.
Potatoes with a mission!
In my community, Rocky Branch elementary students donate fresh produce from their school garden to families in need at their school in Watkinsville, Georgia. The kids range from Kindergartners to 5th graders and they are learning such a valuable lesson from their Katie’s Krops experience!
A portion of the profits from specially marked bags of Tasteful Selections’ Ruby Sensation and Honey Gold potatoes available October through January will go to the non-profit to help maintain current Katie’s Krops grantees and gardens and provide funding for a new grant cycle.
