Get a little nutty with Earth Balance coconut spread!

Last Updated on

With the new year comes some new choices to make at the grocery store. Do you stick with what you know (even though it may not be totally good for you), grab something fake and artificial that is considered ‘healthier’, or get a little adventurous and try something you may have never heard of before? A couple months ago I was sent some coupons to try the new Earth Balance coconut spread. I was intrigued by the sound of it and since the  the store locator said to buy it at Whole Foods, I picked it up when I went to grab my Turkey for Thanksgiving. I really wish Whole Foods was closer because I decided that this coconut spread is just about amazing! If you are not familiar with Earth Balance, here is some information about them from their website:

I chose to try out the coconut spread on my very favorite comfort food…the grilled cheese sandwich! Now, this is not just ANY grilled cheese. This is sourdough bread and Cabot Cheddar grilled cheese which is my all time favorite kind!
So, what did I think? I love that this spread is ‘spreadable’ right from the fridge. Still a little firm but not hard like butter. I could easily spread it on my bread without tearing. I was wondering how it would brown compared to butter and it was beautiful! Lightly golden and toasty! Does it taste like coconut? Maybe just a hint if you really try hard to taste it. Great for sauteing stir fries, adding character to your morning bagel, or slathering on your grilled cheese sandwich!

Butter is nice but it is still an animal product and every step we can take to use LESS animal products is probably a step in the right direction! I would definitely check this out next time you are at the grocery store. You could also try some of their other spreads as well. For a list of all their products, check out the Facebook page!
My thanks to Earth Balance for allowing me to review their products!
