Natural Spa Experience and Getting Back to Nature at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines #sponsored

This natural spa experience post has been sponsored by Hyatt Regency Lost Pines. I received one night stay at Hyatt Lost Pines Resort at no charge with access to their amenities in exchange for my review. All opinions expressed here are my own.

During my recent trip to BlogHer Food in Austin, Texas last month I got the chance to visit the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. I thought it would be wonderful to pamper myself with a natural spa experience before the chaos of the conference set in. I don’t get to pamper myself on a daily basis, although I really wish I could. I have never even had a pedicure up until my trip to the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort! When I am not working or dealing with kids I like to spend time outside in the garden, going for a walk, or sitting on the patio listening to the birds. Getting back to nature is my ideal ‘down time’ and I try to do it as often as I can. I was thrilled to find out that at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort and Spa I could get back to nature while still pampering myself with a natural spa experience!

Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa sits on the banks of the Lower Colorado River just outside of Austin, Texas. It offers an amazing peek into the Texas wilderness with 405 acres of beautiful terrain to explore. It is adjacent to the 1,100-acre McKinney Roughs Nature Park and offers things like kayaking and rafting; hiking and birding along 18 miles of trails, and a wonderful horseback riding experience. There are also a ton of family friendly amenities like swimming and floating at the Crooked River Water Park; nightly s’mores roasts at outdoor fire pits; weekly live music, golf and some wonderful dining experiences. Of course, the natural spa experience at Spa Django is a great way to unwind and pamper yourself after a full day of hiking, swimming and having fun with the family. When you finally run out of energy and want to head to your room you will not be disappointed in the accommodations. The resort features 491 guest rooms which are incredibly spacious and modern, many of which have a walk out patio so you can relax outside only a few steps from your bed. The rooms are decorated in calming earth tones with comfortable beds and plenty of seating and amenities in the room.

Our stay at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa began with a tour of the grounds. The children’s petting zoo was a popular stop for families staying here and the staff helped introduce the children to the donkeys and other animals in the enclosure. Right next to the petting zoo we got to see two Longhorn cattle that are ‘mascots’ to the resort. Tbone and Ribeye really make it obvious that you have definitely arrived in the heart of Texas! I made friends with some of the animals in the petting zoo, although Tbone and Ribeye were happier to stay in the shade of the trees on the other side of their expansive field.

One of the most popular areas of the resort seemed to be the Crooked River Water Park. After a hot day of exploring the resort, you will be happy to have somewhere to cool off! The Crooked River Water Park offers a 1,000-foot flowing river, activity pool, two-story water slide, beach, splash pad, adult pool, whirlpools, shaded decks and poolside bar and grill. This is one pool that both you AND the kids will be happy to spend a few hours at!

During the summer, the best time to explore the hiking trails will be early in the morning when the heat hasn’t quite hit it’s full peak yet. The Lower Colorado River boasts an array of wildlife including a wide variety of birds so make sure you bring your binoculars and bird identification guide when you come. On my trip I spotted an egret or two and the occasional turtle floating on a log while basking in the sun.

Since I spent years in high-school taking horseback riding lessons, I was excited to go check out the riding facilities at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa. Renegade Trailhead offers pony and trail rides, horse camp, archery, skeet shooting and bass fishing. Since it is a bit of a hike from the main building you just have to inquire at the front desk and they will send a shuttle to take you to the trailhead area. While we did not have time for a ride, I did get to meet a few of the horses who were all well cared for and eager to check out the newcomers. Trailrides are only offered in the morning during the summer months to ensure that the horses don’t get too hot on their journey. If you don’t want to join your party on the ride, there is a comfortable sitting area where you can enjoy the air conditioning while you wait.

My all time favorite part of my stay at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa was the natural spa experience at Spa Django. Whether you are interested in a full body massage, manicure, pedicure or the entire experience you will be amazed with the services they provide. From the indoor herb garden to the relaxation rooms, this spa is designed to pamper you from head to toe. I was treated to my first pedicure and had my choice of several essential oils to include in my experience. I went with the rosemary which is one of my favorite herbs in my garden. The salt scrub with essential oils felt wonderful and after buffing, lotions and pretty polish my feet were looking and feeling fabulous! Afterwards, I kicked back and relaxed in the women’s relation room while drinking some delicious strawberry and cucumber infused water. All in all, a very relaxing experience!

With all of the activities available at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa you can certainly work up quite an appetite. During my stay I was treated to a fine dining experience at Stories. The restaurant overlooks stands of pecan trees and focuses on fresh, seasonal and local ingredients. We were offered small servings of just about everything on the menu and I can honestly say that every single dish was amazing. Having lived for 7 years in Texas after leaving college, I was thrilled to see jalapeno cornbread on the menu. Served with whipped butter it was absolutely delicious. For an appetizer I highly recommend the Peppercorn Beef Carpaccio. Thin slivers of incredibly tender beef are served with Pepper-Onion Marmalade, Roasted Garlic Cloves, and Horse radish Cream. I also enjoyed the Local Honey Brined Pheasant entree which comes with organic quinoa and marinated figs. For dessert you must try the Mango Cheesecake. It comes with a Cardamom Ice Cream that is heavenly and has accents of Strawberry Gel and Strawberry Caviar. It was a great balance of flavors that were a refreshing end to a delicious meal. With the extensive menu that they offer you are sure to find a dish or two that you will love.

I am very impressed with the amenities provided at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort and Spa and the quality of service we received during our stay. I would like to point out that the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa is proud to announce it has achieved a 4-Key certification rating through the Green Key Eco-Rating Program for the second consecutive year. This program certifies and inspects hotels and resorts in North America based on their commitment to sustainable “green” operations.
