This post about living a natural lifestyle is brought to you by Tom’s of Maine . The content and opinions expressed below are that of Turning the Clock Back.
I was raised in a rather conventional home as a child. My mom didn’t buy organic food and I certainly didn’t use any products that were considered natural. In fact, there was one person in my class who was a vegetarian and we all thought that was downright strange. Living a natural lifestyle is not something I was ever exposed to as a child. My early days on my own had me eating a lot of canned stew and packets of noodle soup because it was cheap and I was broke. And then I found out I was pregnant and all of a sudden I started to question every single thing that entered or was put onto my body. I was growing a little human and my choices were no longer just my own. As a science geek, I read everything I could on pregnancy and I came across a scientific article discussing the effects of growth hormones in milk on the unborn baby. That day, I went in search of a natural grocery store and bought my first organic product ever. A gallon of organic milk. I was on my way to living a natural lifestyle but it certainly wouldn’t happen overnight!
Living a Natural Lifestyle Starts with Just One Purchase
Living a natural lifestyle isn’t cheap and my husband and I were definitely not rolling in money. You also couldn’t go to the regular grocery store and buy organic food. There was no magical Internet that could deliver all natural body products to my front door. Or, if there was I certainly didn’t have access to such a thing. Living a natural lifestyle was a slow process that started with items we used every day. As my husband and I earned more money and natural products became more widely available, we started buying more of them. I learned which products worked and which foods I liked while also figuring out that a ridiculously high price didn’t mean the item was actually any good. I tried a lot of organic food that tasted disgusting and used a lot of natural body products that didn’t work. One brand of natural body products that I have had consistently good luck with is Tom’s of Maine.
I love that Tom’s of Maine is available at my local Target. The Tom’s of Maine Made to Matter collection at Target means that I can buy natural body products at the same time I pick up new earbuds for the teen and workout socks for my husband. Free of artificial dyes, fragrances, flavors and preservatives, Tom’s of Maine products are good for the planet and are Made to Matter® – handpicked by Target. The Made to Matter collection offers Tom’s of Maine products that are exclusive to Target. You won’t find them anywhere else.
Natural toothpaste has always been very important to me. We have all been using Tom’s of Maine natural toothpaste for years. Tom’s of Maine Luminous White™ Toothpaste is their most advanced natural whitening toothpaste. It is safe for enamel, and gluten and paraben free. Luminous White™ is made up of biodegradable or mineral derived ingredients that you can feel safe using. It also contains no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
I have been encouraging my teens to use natural body products as often as possible. Since our skin absorbs so many things, being careful about what they apply is important. Wicked Cool!™ for boys and girls is a great deodorant choice. It’s their first natural deodorants made just for boys and girls, providing 24-hour odor protection. It is free of aluminum, parabens, and artificial fragrances. It uses natural scents that appeal to them like Summer Fun Wicked Cool!™ Deodorant for Girls and Freestyle Wicked Cool!™ Deodorant for Boys.
Men’s Naturally Dry North Woods™ Antiperspirant is their first natural antiperspirant made for men that provides all day odor and wetness protection. It keeps you dry and smelling fresh without petrochemicals, artificial fragrances, or irritation.
Tom’s of Maine is a brand that I have always loved and trusted. They care about the ingredients that go into their products, as well as their carbon footprint. They donate 10% of their profits each year to nonprofit community-based organizations committed to human, healthy and environmental goodness. I love supporting a brand that knows the importance of giving back!
Living a natural lifestyle doesn’t mean changing your entire life in one day. It’s a very slow process of trying new foods and new body products and finding the ones that work for you. So, if you want to know what the first step should be? You could try picking up items from the Tom’s of Maine Made to Matter collection at Target the next time you shop!
